KSH sees strong potential for home renovation

Around 61% of Hungarians said their homes are in need of renovation, according to a survey conducted by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) last year, up from 44% twelve years earlier, Hungarian news agency MTI reported yesterday.
The survey results, published on Tuesday, showed 38% of residents complained about insulation, 32% want to replace doors and windows, 29% want improvements to their roof, and 11% want a heating upgrade.
According to the survey, doors and windows have been replaced in 1.2 million homes, or about 27% of the total in the past ten years, but they are in need of replacement in a further 28% of homes.
Insulation has been added to the walls of about 17% of homes, but almost 30% of homes still need to be reinsulated.
About 84% of residents said they cannot afford to renovate, while 7% said they are waiting for subsidy money.
