KSH: Hungaryʼs PPI down 1.6% in March

Industrial producer prices fell 1.6% on average in March as compared to the same month a year earlier, with domestic prices dropping 5.1% and export prices up only marginally, by 0.1%, according to a first release of data published by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) today.

In year-on-year terms, within industrial domestic sales, manufacturing prices were 4.5% lower, and the price of electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply dropped 6.8% due to a drop in world market energy prices, according to KSH.

Domestic prices within end-use groups of the producer sectors of industry fell 7.7% in energy and intermediate producer sectors, while they were up 3.2% in capital and 0.4% in consumer goods, as compared to the same month a year earlier.

In the first quarter of the year, domestic prices dropped 4.3% and export sales prices 0.3%, bringing industrial producer prices down 1.7% compared to the same period last year, KSH added.
