KSH: Hungary’s jobless rate drops to 5.5% in March-May

Hungary’s unemployment rate fell by 1.6 percentage points to 5.5% in the period of March to May, compared to the same period a year earlier, Hungary’s Central Statistical Office (KSH) announced today.

The unemployment rate for 15-74 year-old men fell by 1.7 percentage points to 5.4%, while the unemployment rate of women fell by 1.5 percentage points to 5.6%, KSH reported. 

The average duration of unemployment was 18.2 months, and 47.5% of unemployed individuals have been searching for a job for one year or more, as per KSH’s data.

The number of registered job seekers at the end of May in Hungary fell by 20.2%, compared to the same period a year earlier, according to data published on June 22 by the National Employment Office (NFSZ).
