KSH: Hungary’s farmgate prices up by 4.8% in January

Hungary’s agricultural prices increased by 4.8% in January, as compared to the same month a year earlier, Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported today. The growth was consistent with a 10.5% rise in the prices of crop products, while the prices of live animals and animal products decreased by 4.7%, KSH added.

Data by KSH show that prices of cereal grew by 4.9%, chiefly driven by the 16% increase in the price of corn, however the price of wheat was down by 8.9%. The price of fruits increased by 23% and that of potatoes by 54%, KSH said. 

According to data published by KSH, the producer price level of live animals became 3.4% and that of animal products 7.6% lower.
