KSH: Hungary’s CPI up 0.9% in January
Consumer prices increased by 0.9% in Hungary in January, with the highest price rise being recorded for alcoholic beverages and tobacco, while vehicle gas prices decreased significantly, Hungary’s Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported this morning.
In year-on-year terms food prices rose by 1.4%, pork prices decreased by 17.2%, the price of milk was down by 9.9% and cheese prices by 6.9%, according to KSH. The price of alcoholic beverages and tobacco was up by 3.5%, those of consumer durables by 2%, services prices by 1.3% and clothing and footwear prices by 0.1% on average, KSH added.
Consumers paid 1.3% less for other goods (including pharmaceutical products, motor fuels, household products and recreational goods) and, within this, 5.4% less for motor fuels, KSH reported, adding that the price of electricity, gas and other fuels was cut by 0.2% on average, and within this, the price of butane and propane gas by 13%.
