KSH: farmgate prices up 1.5% in June
Hungary’s agricultural producer prices were up by 1.5% in June compared to the same month of 2015, comprising a 3.5% increase in the prices of crops, while prices of live animals and animal products were reduced by 1.8%, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported today in a first release of data.
Prices of cereals rose by 8.7%. While the price of wheat fell by 10%, that of corn rose by 24%, even though the corn harvest has not yet begun, the KSH said about the June figures compared to a year earlier.
The overall price of fruit increased by 6.9%, and that of vegetables by 4.1%, the KSH said, adding that the price rise in the former group was determined by price increases of cherries and strawberries.
The producer price level of live animals rose by 1.2%, while that of animal products decreased by 9.0%, according to the KSH.
In the first half of the year, compared to the corresponding period of 2015, agricultural producer prices grew by 1.0%, within which prices of crops rose by 4.4%, while prices of live animals and animal products fell by 4.9%. The price of vegetables went up by 8.1%.
