KPMG: Lenders cautiously optimistic about corporate lending

MNB

Consultancy KPMGʼs gauge of sentiment on the corporate lending market has risen to 2.73 points this year from 2.5 in 2014, showing "cautious optimism" among bank heads, the firm reported Thursday.

Hungaryʼs corporate lending market has turned in a positive direction after reaching a low in the spring of 2012, KPMG said in a statement, according to Hungarian news agency MTI. A bigger proportion of banks are fully prepared to make new corporate outlays, and most banks expect their corporate loan portfolio to grow in the coming six months.

Although two-thirds of banks expect the quality of the portfolio to improve slightly, none expect a significant reduction in the rate of non-performing loans.
