Hungaryʼs wheat harvest is expected to reach approximately 5.2 mln tonnes this year, György Czerván, state secretary of Hungary’s Ministry of Agriculture, said today, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

With the harvest practically complete, average yield per hectare is above 5 tonnes and about 70% of the harvest is of milling quality, Czerván said, adding that Hungaryʼs wheat harvest was a little more than 5.2 mln tonnes last year.

The barley harvest finished a few weeks ago and the total harvest is above 1 million tonnes with average yields around 5 tonnes. Rapeseed harvest this year is approximately 515,000 tonnes with 2.5 tonnes of average yield per hectares. Experts expect the corn harvest to be around 6-7 million tonnes and the sunflower harvest to be around 1.5 million tonnes, Czerván added.
