Hungary’s trade surplus at EUR 601 mln in August

Hungary’s trade surplus was up EUR 157 million at EUR 601 mln in August, as compared to the same month a year earlier, while in euro terms exports increased by 13% and imports by 11%, Hungary’s Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported today in a first release of data.

The value of exports amounted to EUR 7.2 bln and that of imports to EUR 6.6 bln, according to KSH. European Union Member States were responsible for a 79% share of exports and 77% of imports for the month. 

In the January-August period, the value of exports was put at EUR 60.9 bln, imports at EUR 54.3 bln, and the trade surplus was EUR 6.6 bln. Exports and imports were up by 3% and 1.4%, respectively, in euro terms, while the trade surplus grew by EUR 1.056 bln, as compared to the same period a year earlier.
