Hungary’s farming output up 8.5% in 2016

The volume of Hungary’s agricultural production rose by 8.5% in 2016, compared to the previous year, with the production of crop products, and to a lesser extent livestock production, contributing to the improved figures, according to a first release of data by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
The volume of output of crop production rose by nearly 13%, while the output of live animals grew by 3.9% and that of animal products by 1.2%, resulting in the total volume of livestock production rising by 3.1% as a whole, KSH said.
The output value of agriculture (including services and secondary activities) increased by 5.3% at current basic prices, the KSH data shows. Prices were cut by 2.9%, with similar falls for crop and animal products.
The volume of intermediate consumption rose slightly by 2.4%, while the price index changed at a similar rate but in the opposite direction, KSH reported.
Gross value added rose by 17% compared to the prices of 2015, and by 13% at current prices. Labor input in agriculture, expressed in annual work units, decreased by 2.2%, KSH said.
According to the office, factor income was 16% higher and entrepreneurial income up 22% on 2015, while real factor income per unit of labor force was up by 16%.
