Commercial operation of an interconnector between the gas networks of Hungary and Slovakia was launched yesterday, Slovakian operator Eustream reportedly said today.

"Issues on the Hungarian side which prevented the launching of the pipeline were removed," Eustream said, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

The interconnector has annual firm transmission capacity of 4.5 bln cubic meters from Slovakia to Hungary and interruptible capacity of 1.8 bln cubic meters in reverse mode, MTI added.

The 113 km-long interconnector runs between Velʼke Zlievce, Slovakia, to Vecsés, on the outskirts of Budapest, with a 94 km-long Hungarian section.
