Hungary, China sign agreements on trade

Hungarian food exports to China are expected to increase after Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó today signed four agreements in Ningbo, China during his official visit, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

Exports from Hungary are expected to reach $100 million by the end of the year, Szijjártó said. He added that the four new agreements he signed will fuel significant growth in the sector.
A Chinese ban on Hungarian duck and goose meat exports will be lifted, after a bird flu outbreak last year prevented their trade, the minister said. Negotiations regarding Hungarian chicken and turkey exports may soon be concluded as well, he added.
A deal was made for an additional four Hungarian companies to begin the audit process to receive licenses to export frozen pork to China. They are preceded by three companies so far who have successfully been licensed.
A decision was also reached regarding dairy export protocol, and Chinese authorities will begin a process of quality control in the Hungarian dairy sector that will allow for lucrative trade opportunities in the future, MTI added.
