Hungary and Vietnam sign tourism agreement after committee meeting

Hungary and Vietnam (pictured) signed an agreement on promoting tourism after a three-day meeting of the two countriesʼ economic committees in Hanoi on Friday. The Hungarian National Trading House and the Vietnamese trade promotion agency (VIETRADE) signed an agreement on cooperation.

The committees also discussed pharmaceuticals industry projects among other topics, foreign ministry state secretary István Mikola told MTI on the phone. Vietnam plans to continue importing pharmaceuticals from Hungary, while Hungary is ready to support Vietnamʼs plans to start manufacturing active ingredients.

Hungary plans to give a loan for the construction of a 500-bed hospital. It would also help Vietnam build a registry of the population. Some 16 Hungarian companies and 150 Vietnamese entrepreneurs participated at a business forum held in Hanoi after the committee meeting. Hungarian exports to Vietnam reached a new record last year, rising 43% to $85.2 mln.
