Sales of vehicle fuels in Hungary reached more than 1.59 billion liters in the first half of 2016, an increase of 6.1% compared to the same period last year, the Hungarian Petroleum Association (MASZ) said on Monday, according to a report yesterday by Hungarian news agency MTI.

Gasoline sales were up by 4.7% for a total of 623 million liters, including 28 mln liters of premium gasoline, MTI reported.

Diesel sales increased by 7.0% for a total of 967 mln liters, and premium sales reached 70 mln liters, MTI said.

The sales of fuel were boosted by “still favorable” prices, ranging from HUF 320-330 per liter, said MASZ head Otto Grad, according to MTI.

The seven MASZ members draw around three-fourths of gasoline sales and two-thirds of diesel sales in Hungary, and together own around 60% of the 2,000 gas stations in the country, MTI noted.
