Hungarian, Israeli farm ministers discuss cooperation in Budapest

Hungary’s Minister of Agriculture Sándor Fazekas and his Israeli counterpart Uri Ariel met yesterday in Budapest to discuss possible areas of cooperation between the two countries, the ministry reported yesterday, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.
The sides agreed on cooperation in the area of research and development, including the exchange of experts in the field, and a partnership between institutes in Hungary and the Volcani Center, a farm research facility in Israel, MTI reported.
The Israeli minister offered Hungary five scholarships at the center for university students, and also suggested the possibility of establishing a model farm in Hungary to employ Israeli irrigation and greenhouse technologies, the ministry announced.
Fazekas requested that a delegation of Israeli animal health authorities come to Hungary to accelerate the process of clearing locally raised beef for export to Israel, according to MTI.
