Hungarian government calls Balkan air route tenders

The Hungarian government is calling tenders for concessions to launch flights between Budapest and destinations in the Western Balkans, Hungarian news agency MTI reported yesterday. Tenders are expected to be published in the official journal of the European Union on Thursday, with a deadline of May 19.
Hungary’s National Development Ministry is waiting for offers to operate Budapest flights between Podgorica, Pristina, Skopje, Tirana and Sarajevo, MTI reported, adding that airlines will be eligible for compensation on their operational losses and to help them achieve a “reasonable profit”.
Those applying for the tenders need to ensure that planes to be used on the routes are no older than eight years, have a minimum capacity of at least 30 passengers per plane and at least one flight attendant on each flight that is able to speak Hungarian.
