Hungaryʼs government is reallocating some HUF 29 bln from budget reserves this year to manage a wave of migration, government spokesman Zoltán Kovács said on public television yesterday, after a cabinet meeting, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

He noted that the government had already allocated HUF 6.5 bln to build a fence along Hungaryʼs border with Serbia and was topping up monies for the construction as well as the temporary relocation of migrants with HUF 22.2 bln. Kovács said HUF 31.4 bln had already been spent by the police on reinforcing Hungaryʼs borders since the wave of migrants had begun in the second half of last year. More than 3,500 migrants are currently in reception centers in Hungary, he said. More than 5,600 migrants have availed of healthcare services in the country, he added.
