From January to September, more than 1,500 Hungarian doctors and nurses requested documents necessary to continue their work abroad, Hungarian business daily Világgazdaság reported today, citing data from the Health Licencing Office (EEKH).

The total number of 1,534 requests included 747 doctors, 191 dentists, 380 nurses, 37 midwives, 67 pharmacists and 112 other healthcare workers. The data reveals that 558 requests were issued by professionals under the age of 30. The total number of requests remained unchanged from last year's data.

In the past seven and a half years, more than 8,000 doctors and dentists and over 2,500 nurses and midwives have gone abroad to work, the paper said.
