Government grants Kecskemét HUF 25 bln for developments
Hungaryʼs central government will grant the city of Kecskemét, in central Hungary, HUF 25 billion to establish an economic development fund, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said today after signing an agreement with Kecskemét mayor Klaudia Pataki Szemerey.
Orbán said an agreement had been reached to build a runway for civilian use at the local airbase and develop the cityʼs electricity grid to ensure a stable power supply for its industrial park.
The sides also agreed to complete a ring road around the city, expand a road connecting the city to the M5 motorway, which will also be expanded to four lanes, develop a suburban railway system, renovate the cityʼs train station and mayorʼs office, and establish a university research center for industry.
German carmaker Daimlerʼs manufacturing base in Hungary is located in Kecskemét.
