Sales of consumer electronics and home appliances in Hungary saw a year-on-year rise of 3%, reaching HUF 125.1 billion, in the third quarter, the turnover growth chiefly being boosted by sales of telecommunication products and large household appliances, market research company GfK Hungária said in a report today.

Sales of telecom products saw a year-on-year rise of 11.3%, as more Hungarians are now purchasing smartphones.

Sales of large household appliances were up by a y.o.y. 7.2% in Q3, slowing from double-digit growth in the previous quarters, while small household appliance sales saw a decrease of 0.5%, GfK Hungária said.

There was a negative trend in the sale of entertainment electronics and IT equipment, both being down in year-on-year terms by 2% and 5%, respectively, data by GfK reveal.
