Bulgaria's day-ahead power market posts new price record

The Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX) day-ahead market recorded a new all-time high price of electricity for industrial consumers, according to a report by Seenews.

The price for Thursday reached BGN 494.74 (EUR 252.96) per MWh (megawatt-hour), according to IBEX data.

It comes just a day after the power market saw a record-high BGN 485.22 per MWh. Bulgaria's Energy and Water Regulatory Commission has forecast the electricity price for the July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2022 period at BGN 119 per MWh.

However, since the start of October, the average price has been more than three times higher, at BGN 377.70.
