Hungary’s National Economy Ministry is expected to submit draft legislation to the government on simplifying tax procedures by the end of April, NGM told Hungarian news agency MTI today.

“A turning point has been reached in the Hungarian tax system. We have established a tax authority that actively supports Hungaryʼs economic development”,the ministry said in a statement sent to the news agency.

“The tax authority must support companies, businesses and private individuals as a partner, so they can fulfill their tax payment obligations as simply, quickly and easily as possible. This new model requires new procedural regulations,” the ministry added.

According to MTI, the ministry will involve tax consultants and a variety of organizations in the process of drafting the legislation.

Hungaryʼs National Tax and Customs Authority (NAV) recently came under the aegis of NGM, and is being headed by state secretary András Tállai. The ongoing reorganization is intended to improve efficiency, assist cooperation with businesses and improve competitiveness.
