Easter holiday could boost traffic at Hungarian hotels

Hungarian hotels could be fully booked over the upcoming long Easter weekend as there is a growing tendency among Hungarian families to spend their holidays at hotels, István Kovács, chief secretary of the Hungarian Association for Hotels and Restaurants, told Hungarian news agency MTI today.

Hotels outside the capital are chiefly being booked by Hungarian tourists, and wellness hotels outside Budapest are generally fully booked, so hotels offer no discounts in such periods, Hungarian online daily index.hu reported. Rooms are booked in advance for weeks, sometimes months, index.hu added.

Unlike in the case of other long weekends, Budapest-located hotels are also expected to be fully booked during the Easter weekend, as it is a European-wide holiday, Monday will be an official holiday, as such people tend to travel over the weekend, index.hu said.
