Demand for the governmentʼs expanded home purchase subsidies for families is growing, a survey of lenders by Hungarian news agency MTI shows today.

OTP Bank, Hungaryʼs biggest commercial lender, has awarded HUF 14.8 bln of the subsidies, known by their Hungarian acronym CSOK, to 7,542 clients so far this year, accounting for about half of all CSOK contracts. About 4% of the clients are using the subsidies to buy new homes, 17% to build, and 2% to expand. The rest want to buy resale homes.

K&H Bank accepted 1,312 applications for some HUF 4.5 bln in CSOK subsidies by the end of July, while UniCredit Bank counted almost 1,200 applications.

Members of savings integrator SZHISZ accepted 4,485 applications for a combined HUF 14.7 bln in CSOK funding by the end of September.
