Czech Railways and the passenger unit of Hungarian state-owned railway company MÁV are drafting a cooperation agreement that will improve service between Budapest and Prague, Hungarian news agency MTI reported this morning citing a professional journal.

Under the agreement, MÁV-START would renovate carriages it bought from Spain in the mid-1990s, while Czech Railways would buy 50 modern carriages, Pavel Krtek said in Railway Workers Magazine, according to MTI.

Czech Railways is also working to raise the level of service along the lines between Prague and Berlin-Hamburg and Prague and Vienna, he added.
