Companies participating in dual education program could get rebates

Companies that take part in Hungaryʼs dual education system – a combination of trade instruction and on-the-job training – may qualify for rebates on their vocational contributions as of September, deputy state secretary László Odrobina said in an interview with daily Napi Gazdaság, Hungarian news agency MTI reported yesterday.

There is currently a bill before Parliament that would entitle these businesses to a 1.5% payroll tax refund, according to Odrobina. The bill would also entitle businesses to write off apprentice wage costs and be eligible for state subsidies to maintain and develop workshops, he added. A total of HUF 7bn-8bn would be earmarked for all participants and no "bureaucratic system of tenders" are likely to be instituted.
