China eyes regional tourism office in Budapest
Chinaʼs tourism authority is planning to open a regional office in Budapest, the nearest similar office being in Zurich, Levente Magyar, state secretary for economic diplomacy said in a statement yesterday.
According to Magyar, the decision to make Hungary a site for coordinating tourism cooperation between Central and Eastern Europe and China was made in 2013. He added that a coordination office has already opened in Budapest, but todayʼs announcement represents a significant development in this regard, he said, adding that the outcome of a regional office is a testament to Hungaryʼs policy of opening to the east over the past few years.
