Budapest Airport expects 11% rise in passengers over holiday season
Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport hopes to welcome at least 233,000 passengers between December 20 and January 1, which constitutes approximately an 11% increase over the corresponding period last year, Mihály Hardy, director of communications for operator Budapest Airport said yesterday, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.
Estimates are based on early reservations, and the airport expects to see passenger numbers grow in the period of December 15 - December 24, reaching a peak on December 28-29, MTI reported.
During the holiday season, the daily number of passengers is expected to reach 25,000. The most popular flights in this period are those heading to "traditional" destinations such as London, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and Rome, MTI said.
