Lawmakers of ruling Fidesz party submitted a bill to the Hungarian Parliament yesterday that aims to transpose the European Unionʼs energy efficiency directive into national law, Hungarian news agency MTI reported today.

The National Development Ministry (NFM) said earlier that the Hungarian Parliament expected to transpose the European Union’s energy efficiency directive into Hungarian law during its spring session.

The European Commission has launched an infringement procedure against Hungary on charges that the country’s energy regulations fail to comply with European Union regulations, the ECʼs spokesperson for climate and energy policy Anna-Kais Itkonen told Hungarian news agency MTI on March 1.
