Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air has opened its second base in Hungary in the city of Debrecen, with the initial deployment of an Airbus 320 aircraft at Debrecen International Airport, the company said today in a press statement.

As of today the carrier has launched three new routes from the airport to Paris Beauvais, Brussels Charleroi and Malmo from December 16, the company said. The new aircraft increases the number of routes served from Debrecen to six and increases the annual seat capacity from the airport by 136% to 145,000 seats per year, according to Wizz Air. The airline is also increasing the frequencies on the existing services to London Luton and Eindhoven.

"The opening of our second base in Hungary and 22nd base overall is truly an important milestone for our presence in Hungary ... Our Airbus A320 starts its commercial operation today and will further enhance the travel opportunities on the Hungarian market, create a number of local jobs with Wizz Air and our business partners while doubling our capacity from Debrecen Airport," Wizz Air CEO József Várady said.
