Wizz Air could launch London-Győr route

City

Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air is considering a London flight from the newly expanded Győr-Pér Airport chiefly used by the German car manufacturer Audi, Hungarian regional daily Kisalföld reported today.

State secretary Péter Szijjártó told the daily that an agreement on the new route is expected to be reached by the end of this year. Zsolt Borkai, the mayor of Győr, said that for supporting such a route, the airport needs an investment of several hundred billion forints – with the involvement of the state – to build a passenger terminal.

The recent €6.6 mln expansion of the airport, which serves the nearby base of German carmaker Audi, was inaugurated yesterday. The airport is now equipped to accomodate Boeing 737 and Airbus 320 aircraft.
