Wizz Air completes HUF 1 bln hangar at Budapest Airport
Hungary-based low-cost airline Wizz Air today inaugurated a HUF 1 bln hangar at Liszt Ferenc International Airport in Budapest, Hungarian news agency MTI reported today.
CEO József Váradi said the 2,000 sqm maintenance hangar, which the airline is leasing for a period of 15 years, will employ 70 people.
Wizz Air is expected to expand its fleet based in Budapest with an additional aircraft in March, raising the number in the capital to ten.
An earlier press release reported that the hangar would be located between the existing Lufthansa Technik and Aeroplex of Central Europe hangars.
The press release added that the project is being carried out by construction company Market Építő Zrt., owned by István Garancsi, who is said to be "linked" to Hungaryʼs Prime Minister Viktor Orbán via a "rope of friendship".
