The Hungarian unit of telco giant Vodafone has reached 99% fourth-generation mobile telecommunications coverage in Budapest, ten months after the acquisition of additional elements of the frequency spectrum allowing the telco to build up its network, CEO Diego Massidda announced today (October 5).

The CEO added that 4G coverage of underground lines in the capital has reached 100%. Massidda noted that the company has invested approximately HUF 10 bln in establishing its 4G network; he expects 100% outdoor 4G coverage to be reached in the country’s residential areas by the end of the year.

Vodafone expanded its 4G network with frequency licenses in the 800 and 2,600MHz bands, which it acquired last year for HUF 30.2 bln, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.
