Turawell is spending HUF 10 billion to build a geothermal power plant and greenhouse in Tura, near Budapest, thermal well owner László Miszori told Hungarian news agency MTI.

Turawellʼs 51% owner, Singapore-based KS Orka Renewables, is building the HUF 3.4 bln plant. Preparations will cost a further HUF 2.1 bln.

The 2.7MW power plant is expected to start generating electricity – enough to power 800 homes – next year.

A consortium of Bauforg, Forrásker-Tész and Venlo Plus will build the HUF 4.5 bln greenhouse, Miszori said. The greenhouse is expected to turn out an annual 6,300 tons of tomatoes, generating revenue of HUF 6-7 bln, he added.

SUPPORT THE BUDAPEST BUSINESS JOURNAL

Producing journalism that is worthy of the name is a costly business. For 27 years, the publishers, editors and reporters of the Budapest Business Journal have striven to bring you business news that works, information that you can trust, that is factual, accurate and presented without fear or favor.

We would like to offer that same opportunity to our readers. We would like to invite you to help us deliver the quality business journalism you require. Hit our Support the BBJ button and you can choose the how much and how often you send us your contributions.
