Sólyom boss insisting everything on track

Troubled Sólyom Hungarian Airways hasn’t gone bankrupt, and its financing and operation is secure, the firm’s chief executive József Vágó reassured from the online pages of business daily Világgazdaság this morning.

Vágó, who has become well-known for the overwhelming ambition and optimism in his public remarks regarding his would-be national airline, made the comments after Sólyom announced that it can’t pay its employees, it doesn’t have a concluded contract with investors, talks have been suspended with its prospective vendors and several of its executives have resigned.

Vágó insists that the only issue is the transport authority NKH’s deliberate obstruction of the license-issuing process which has so far prevented the single part of Sólyom’s planned fleet from carrying passengers. All other issues will soon be resolved, he said. The authority rejected the claim.
