The number of listings posted by Hungarians on sharing economy website Airbnb rose by approximately 70% over the last year as compared to the previous year, the company told Hungarian economic daily Világgazdaság today.

Listings in the country reached 8,100 in January, as compared to 4,800 in the same month a year earlier, the company told the daily.

An annual flat tax of HUF 1,500 per square meter is planned for users that rent homes through Airbnb under a proposal submitted by the ruling Fidesz party to the cabinet, according to reports published on March 25.

Airbnb has over 1,500,000 listings in 34,000 cities and 190 countries, according to reports.
