OTP Bank, Hungaryʼs biggest commercial lender, held an opening ceremony Monday for its regional center in Niš, Serbia, with the participation of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and OTP Chairman-CEO Sándor Csányi, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

Csányi said that OTP has been present on the Serbian market for ten years, since it bought Niska Banka, which is now an OTP subsidiary. OTP is preparing to expand further and buy additional branch offices, he added.

Orbán said the opening ceremony was a symbolic event that supports the economic policy of strong cooperation between Hungary and Serbia.

OTP Bank spent around EUR 0.5 mln on the regional office.
