MTel to raise payroll HUF 2.4 bln, after union talks

After reaching an agreement with workersʼ unions yesterday, Magyar Telekom announced it will increase payroll costs by approximately HUF 2.4 billion next year, according to reports. MTel is reportedly not eyeing any layoffs.
As of the beginning of next year, employee salaries will be raised by 5.5% at Magyar Telekom, the Hungarian unit of international telco giant Deutsche Telekom, while workers of MTel’s IT unit T-Systems Hungary will see wages rising by 3.1%, according to reports.
The Hungarian parent was reported not to be planning to reduce its headcount in the country during the next year.
