Mondi to invest HUF 13 bln at base in Hungary

British paper and packaging company Mondi will invest HUF 13 billion at its facility in Békéscsaba and create 220 new workplaces as a result, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said today, according to Hungarian News Agency MTI.

The development, which is being supported with a HUF 1.8 bln grant from the Hungarian government, will improve the companyʼs existing production facilities, ensure the installation of the latest machinery, and help in the construction of a logistics center, new production halls and a warehouse, explained Szijjártó.
Dynamic growth in the packaging industry is fueling the expansion plans, Mondi’s executive manager at Békéscsaba, Sándor Kardos, told MTI.
Mondi Békéscsaba had net revenue of HUF 13.21 bln last year, with HUF 814 mln in after tax profits, according to public records.
Mondi operates at four locations in Hungary, including Békéscsaba, Nyíregyháza, Kecskemét, and Szada, and has over 100 facilities around the world.
