MOL CEO no longer on Interpol’s wanted list [Updated]
MOL chairman/CEO Zsolt Hernádi has been removed from Interpol’s list of wanted persons, local news outlet hvg.hu reported yesterday. Spokesman Domokos Szollár affirmed to national news service MTI that MOL officials had learned that Hernádi’s name was no longer on the list, but declined further comment.
According to HVG, Hernádi’s name had been removed from the list two weeks ago after “the suspension of the procedure.” The authorities that issued the arrest warrant must have withdrawn it, the portal surmised.
The Croatian Interior Ministry meanwhile informed an MTI correspondent in Zagreb yesterday that it does not know why Interpol removed Hernádi from the list and has asked the organization for information with regard to this matter.
Hernádi’s name was included on the list after Croatian police issued a warrant for his arrest last October on suspicion he had bribed now-incarcerated former prime minister Ivo Sanader for management rights in Croatia-based peer INA.
Update: Interpol review of Hernádi case underway
The case of Zsolt Hernádi, the chairman of Hungarian oil and gas company MOL, is under review by the Commission for the Control of Interpol’s Files (CCF), Interpol informed national news service MTI.
Interpol said it would disclose no further information while the review is under way.
During the review, the CCF may propose measures such as blocking related information in Interpol’s database. Once the review is over, the commission will decide whether it erases, reinstitutes or amends the data included in Interpol’s database.
