Mercedes to expand its Hungarian plant

German car manufacturer Daimler is planning to expand its logistics hall and improve supply of parts at its production lines in its Hungarian unit in Kecskemét, central Hungary, with a €15 million investment, Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary announced today, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.
The construction is scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of next year and is expected to be wound up by summer.
Improvements in the unit include applying autonomous robots to transport parts needed for production at the necessary time in the correct quantities, MTI said adding that space freed up by the changes will be used to create new recreation areas for employees.
The Kecskemét plant currently has a headcount of approximately 4,000, the news agency said.
