The owners and CEOs of Mellow Mood Group, Sameer Hamdan and Zuhair Awad, were ranked among the 50 most influential persons in the Hungarian tourism industry by Tourism Ltd., for the third year in a row, according to a press release issued yesterday.

The list was compiled by a jury from Tourism Ltd. and 20 members of professional organizations who voted for the most influential persons in the domestic tourism sector, based on their professional work, the press release said. During the selection process, not only the size and revenues of the companies were to be taken into consideration, but also their influence on the tourism sector and their foreign and domestic reputation.

The results were published Monday at the 24th Season Opening Tourism Gala and Award Ceremony by Tourism Ltd.

Hamdan and Awad, whose firm runs the Buddha Bar Hotel in Budapest, arrived in Hungary more than 20 years ago, as students, and soon after opened their own hostel. They now operate a large group of accommodation businesses in the city.

The past few years for Mellow Mood Group were not only about growth and stabilization, but also about planning and preparing for new developments, the press release said. The owners and CEOs of Mellow Mood Group said they believe that their success is due to their hard work – and the work of their employees.

The hotel group is currently involved in overseeing restoration of another important historic building in the capital. Construction on the Pariszi Udvar is said to be underway to transform this landmark into a luxury hotel with conference facilities, a lavish penthouse suit, a bar on the top floor with panoramic views of Buda, as well as cafés, restaurants and shops on the ground and first floors.
