Lufthansaʼs first flight arrives in Debrecen, BP pax up 12%
German airline Lufthansa’s first flight on the Munich-Debrecen route touched down in Debrecen this morning, a milestone for the airline, Lufthansa’s chief in Hungary Gábor Antal said today, according to reports.

The airline will operate the route between Munich and Hungaryʼs second-largest city, Debrecen, three times a week on Lufthansa’s summer timetable, Hungarian news agency MTI reported. Antal stressed that regular flights could improve the regionʼs economic development and create new jobs, MTI added.
Budapest pax up 12%
Passenger numbers of the airline’s Budapest flights were up by 12% last year, as compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 1.6 million, the chief said. The numbers make Lufthansa group a runner-up on Hungaryʼs air passenger market, Antal noted.
Passenger numbers on the flagship carrier reached 728,000, while 182,000 passengers travelled with SWISS, 104,000 with Austrian Airlines, 181,000 with Brussels Airlines and 386,000 with Germanwings/Eurowings, MTI quoted Antal as saying. Passenger numbers on Germanwings/Eurowings flights were up a marked 38%, as numbers on Brussels Airlines rose 22% and there were 5% more passengers on Lufthansa flights, the chief added.
