Italiagro opens buffalo ranch in Hungary

Hungarian-Italian owned Italiagro inaugurated a buffalo ranch in Mezőtúr, Eastern Hungary, through a HUF 330 million investment, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

The company will import Italian buffalos for the production then processing of buffalo milk into dairy products, Agriculture Minister Sándor Fazekas said at the event, MTI reported.

For the time being the buffalo milk will be processed at a vocational training school run by the agriculture ministry near Mezőtúr, Fazekas added.

The ranch spans five hectares and will eventually have 250-300 buffalos with a grazing area of 70 hectares. The first buffalo milk dairy products could be sold in a few months.
