In reaction to fast developing market trends, Hungarian telco Invitel will bring 100 Mbit/sec broadband internet access to approximately 160,000 homes by the end of this year, deputy-CEO Marianne Langsteiner said this morning at a press conference.

Marianne Langsteiner talks at the press conference this morning.

With the expansion, the total number of homes with such an internet connection is expected to exceed 600,000 Langsteiner added. The decision to expand was chiefly due to government tax incentives, as well as the increased consumer demand that comes with technology upgrades.

“We find it extraordinarily important to be able to meet the requirements of transforming consumer needs, while offering the highest standards with innovative products,” Langsteiner said. Invitel’s network services are used by some 1.15 million homes. The Hungarian telco launched a €30 mln development program for clients in its retail and corporate segments this spring.
