Invitel, Budapest Bank sign five-year cooperation agreement
Hungarian telco Invitel has been awarded hundreds of millions of forints in IT orders for the next five years from Budapest Bank, following a change in management, to set up the bank’s backup data center in a location not affiliated with the previous owner, according to a press release issued yesterday.

Invitel says the reliability of IT systems has become a key factor for players in the financial sector, and trust of external service providers has been growing. Current trends show that backup data centers are often stored in external server parks, and in some cases primary data centers are also located outside the premises of banks.
“The foundation of a bank’s operations is a stable and reliable IT infrastructure … Invitel was awarded with our order after winning our tender, for meeting the requirements both in terms of professionalism and implementation,” Bálint Kelemen, the IT Director of Budapest Bank, said.
Invitel established a dedicated hall for Budapest Bank, which was built in order to meet the highest international standards, the statement says. The construction of the hall took four months and the moving of the equipment into the new hall took 24 hours with the help of a team of 60.
“Budapest Bank set up world-class security, and I am very proud that Invitel was able to meet the strictest requirements. We learnt a lot during the project, and we can hardly think of any data center requirements that Invitel would not be able to meet,” Invitel Chief Operative Director Imre Mártha said.
