Wizz Air has launched its first direct flight from Debrecen to Rome this month, according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.

The new route is available twice weekly, the airline says. Tickets can be purchased via the Wizz Air website and the airline's mobile app.

"We are delighted to be able to add such a fabulous city to our destinations from Debrecen Airport. Italy's capital is a bucket list destination for many reasons, whether it's the monuments or the fantastic food. We are confident that it will be a deservedly popular destination for our passengers," said Zsuzsa Trubek, communications manager of Wizz Air.

"The priority of Debrecen International Airport is to strengthen its role in the Central and Eastern European region by improving the quality of service we provide to our passengers and partners, and to increase the economic and tourism strength of the region by making new destinations available. Now, at the end of the year, we are delighted to welcome passengers of our first Rome flight, following the launch of our Hurghada service," Tamás Király, CEO of Debrecen International Airport Kft.

"We are confident that the flight will be a win-win situation for both parties in the long term, as it will become an attractive destination for not only the people of Debrecen, but also for those from the region and beyond the borders of the country," he adds.
