MÁV-Volán Group Passenger Numbers Reach 837 mln in 2023

The number of passengers on trains and buses of state-owned MÁV-Volán group climbed by 118 million to 837 million in 2023, MÁV said on Thursday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
MÁV said the rollout of a country and national pass system played a key role in the increase.
Passenger numbers on domestic trains of MÁV-Start came close to 178 million. Passenger numbers on international trains approached 3.4 million a new record.
The number of passengers on Volánbusz local and intercity buses increased by 65 million to 585 million.
Passenger numbers on Budapest's HÉV rapid suburban rail lines rose by 7 million to 71 million.
