The expansion of highway number 33 to two lanes on the border of Debrecen (225 km east of Budapest), between the northwestern industrial zone that also houses the BMW car factory and the M35 highway, has been completed, according to profitline.hu.

The development was realized from domestic funds in an investment by the Ministry of Construction and Transport and executed by Strabag Építőipari Zrt. for almost HUF 17.5 billion.

Deputy Secretary of State for Transport Strategy Loránd Bói of the Ministry of Transport and Communications said that the development of the domestic road network has been an effort of the government and the department for more than 10 years.
