Between January-June 2023, Ferenc Liszt International Airport registered some 6,683,524 passengers, up 26.6% compared to H1 2022, according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.

The number of passengers handled in the first half of 2023 is more than the number registered in the entirety of 2021, the airport says.

Total passenger numbers for the year to date are now only 9.4% below the record year of 2019, exceeding previous expectations.

After a temporary global slowdown at the beginning of the year, cargo at the airport started to grow again in the spring.

The total cargo volume handled at Budapest Airport in the first half of the year was 91,452 tons, which means that the annual target of 200,000 tons seems to be within reach in the near future, the press release notes.
